Monkey King Latte Art

This is a nostalgic nod to the iconic 90's Monkey King lore. Using MILKLAB Almond, @ponga.edenn has taken latte art to a whole new level, capturing the essence of this legendary character in every cup.

The secret sauce behind this stunning creation? The long drag technique that makes the latte art come to life!

Practice and follow along with the step-by-step guide:

1.    Build your base with the cup handle at 3 o’clock and start the first big 12-leaf rosetta on the left side of your cup.

2.    Rotate the cup handle to 6 o’clock and pour another big rosetta on the top side of the cup but allow some space from the first rosetta (this space is for an ear later) and cut the rosetta to the right side.

3.    Rotate your cup back to 3 o’clock and start to make a 5-leaf rosetta in the middle, between the first and second rosetta, then cut on the right side. After that make a line between the third rosetta and the first rosetta starting from the edge of the third rosetta until the ear point.

4.    Your drag session begins with the cup still at 3 o’clock. Start your drag pour from the edge on the right of the second rosetta, which will be the “forehead”, continue to drag the line and make a double “C-shape” for an eye area. After that continue dragging to make a nose and mouth area at the end.

5.    Pour a single drop of milk from high above your cup to make an eyeball in the eye area. Note: It is important to pour from a high point to make an eye and avoiding a blurry result.

6.    Drop your dry foam from a high area in your “ear area” and start slowly dragging your pour to make an ear.

7.    Make your first horn near the ear area, drop a single foam, and flick it so it looks real and sharp, do the same on the other side of the rosetta (head).
